We can’t be the only ones feeling like, “Where did June go?!”. This month all of our SSTKD Dads were able to participate in Taekwondo and/or Krav Maga for FREE! We had a few dads give us a try and we’ve really enjoyed having them. Your little (or not so little) ones are watching and they love you being part of something they enjoy doing too.
We had a wonderful belt testing at the beginning of the month. From Dragons to Junior White Belts, to Teens & Adults, and everyone in between that earned the chance to test, we are proud of you. It’s not an obligation to test but an opportunity. It is an honor to achieve your next rank through hard work, dedication, performing at testing, and perseverance. Let’s work hard before the next one!

Our junior leaders joined our instructor team during the Super Storm meeting. Super Storm meetings are where our instructors discuss what to improve in the next cycle, practice patterns, ask questions, and have the chance to test for their next collar. Depending on the rank, collar testing includes a physical exam, verbal exam, and a written exam. The instructors you see on the mat have put in a lot of time and effort to be able to help you. This Super Storm we were able to test Mr. Hunn for his level 1 and Ms. Strouss for her level 4! Congratulations to both of you!

Also, at the beginning of this month, we implemented a Friday Skills Clinic Schedule. Through the summer and during our regular Friday classes we are focusing on a specific skill and letting our families know ahead of time so that if their student is wanting/needing to work on something, they can plan to be there. Some of our Fridays will focus on kicking techniques, stances, patterns, tournament prep, etc.. Below is the schedule for the rest of the summer.

On June 14 – 15 we hosted Mr. Monaghan and Mr. Mischke from Texas who instructed our Self Defense Weekend. On the 14th we had a 2 hour Krav Maga Master Class where we learned new close combat skills, upgraded techniques we previously learned, and did some drills that were challenging to all skill levels. The following day these master instructors conducted a shooting defense course at Windrock. Both days were filled with learning, exercise, fellowship, and lots of fun. Thank you so much to Mr. Monaghan and Mr. Mischke and everyone who joined us for the weekend!

It’s been a great summer so far – let’s keep it up!
